How many times have you dreaded going to the gym for cardio. You spend countless hours pounding away on the treadmill or spinning into nowhere. After all this work it would be nice to see noticable results right? For many people they follow this routine every week with little to no results. The problem may be with how they are doing their cardio.

The trick to highly effective cardio is interval training. This makes your body never settle into a rhythm as your doing your cardio. Thus making your body constantly work to try to find a rhythm. It is a very simple process, simply choose your methond of cardio. Begin at a slow pace for 5 mins to warm up and get the blood flowing. Now is when the work begins. For the next 15 mins alternate 1 minute of high exertion followed by 2 minutes of moderate exertion.

At the high exertion level your burning mostly carbohydrates. During the moderate cycles your burning more fat, so with interval training you get the best of both worlds. After your 15 mins youll feel very taxed and the cool down process begins. Slowly decrease your activity to a low level and continue for 5-10 mins. It is very important to stretch for 5 mins after this type of work as your muscles will become very stiff if you do not. Following this type of routine for 3 times a week for 20-30 mins will ensure you see results in a short period of time.
