I'm a teacher at one of the most known online-only schools and i see some of the issues people, students struggle. The lack of interaction with teachers and other students causes isolation and many times frustration when dealing with assignments and questions. True, schools have responded to this challenge with online tutoring and blogs to enhance the interaction but still something is amiss.
I contend a balanced education has to have some level of Face to Face interaction. That allows not only to solve problems more efficiently and quickly, but also allows for a definite bonding forming situation, that can be chanelled into enhanced learning opportunities.
I take the example of my wife that's taking classes online only on a particular school. She seems to be struggling a lot with the fact of isolation and lack of contact and context. My opinion on that is that schools should provide some local type of interaction to enhance learning: tools like networking, phoneweb, etc. should be made available.
