St. Petersburg, FL (March 14, 2007)?A retired war vet that has been collecting supplies for Operation Shoebox has received his own reward, thanks to Quality Wall Beds. Quality Wall Beds, a local Murphy Bed company in Pinellas county, donated a Queen size Murphy Bed to Bill Crabb, after noticing that his philanthropic efforts were taking over his home.
"We just wanted to give him more space to keep doing what he was doing," Quality Wall Beds co-owner Jennifer Burkley-Cudar said. "I saw a picture of Mr. Crabb and his wife sitting on their guest room bed with all of these boxes around them, and thought 'This guy needs a Murphy Bed.'"
Burkley-Cudar & her husband, Darren Cudar, got the idea to donate a space saving Murphy Bed to Crabb after reading about him in an article that ran in the St. Petersburg Times on October 17, 2006. After consulting her father and co-owner of Quality Wall Beds, Lloyd Burkley, they agreed it would be a great gesture to give something nice to a guy like Crabb. ?He would have space to organize his donations, and still keep a nice bed for his visitors,? said Mr. Burkley.
Jennifer called her vendors and culled together the pieces for a Queen size bed. "We contacted Mr. Crabb the day the article ran. He was very excited about the idea, and welcomed us to his home,? said Burkley-Cudar.
The bed was setup in Crabb's guest room at the end of January, by Darren and Jennifer. ?When Mr. Crabb saw the bed for the first time, he said ?Wow! You've really made this place look classy. This is beautiful,?? said Burkley-Cudar. ?Now he has enough room to triple the amount of donations & boxes to send to the troops in Iraq.?
